Mary Ellen "Frances" Dutton Brown

Mary Ellen “Frances” Dutton Brown, age 88 of the Shannon Community, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her residence. Frances was born on October 22, 1927 in Floyd County to the late James Jackson Carter and Rosa Callie Carter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. Dutton; and son, Larry Dutton who died August 11. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Ray Brown; two sons, Jackie Dutton and his wife Dottie of Sugar Valley, and Danny Dutton of Calhoun; four daughters, Judy Randolph and her husband Douglas of Shannon, Geraldine Dutton of Calhoun, Kathy Proctor and her husband Edward of Shannon, and Dorothy Randolph and her husband Johnny of Dalton; sister, Betty Hayes of the Nickelsville Community; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, August 14th at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Smith and Reverend Jackie Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Hill Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 13th from 12 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
