Mary Evelyn Carter

Mary Evelyn Carter, age 90 of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Pruitt Health Care of Rome. Mary was born on April 1, 1924 in Muscadine, AL to the late Lucas I. Ford and Vassie Chandler Ford. Mary was a member of Plainville Church of God and was retired from Burlington Industries. She was a minister’s wife; married to Rev. Walter E. Carter they travel all over the southeast fulfilling their ministry. They lived in Maryville, Tennessee for 13 years returning to Plainville in March 1966 where they resided until their passing. Mary will be greatly missed by her family, friends, in the community and local church. Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth L. Ford, a sister, Illa Mae Harris, a niece, Joann Thompson and a nephew, Muriel Wheeler. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Kenny and Paula Ford, Karen and Jim Stephens, David and Lori Harris, Edward Harris, Lucille and Billy Walden. A host of great and great great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday March 1st at 4pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gaddis officiating. Music will be arranged by Ronnie Langley. Burial will follow in the Muscadine Cemetery in Muscadine, Alabama on Monday March 2 at 1pm EST. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2pm until the funeral hour.
