Marvin E. Reeves, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his residence. Marvin was born on March 7, 1925 in Bartow County. He was the son of Thomas Jefferson Reeves and Pearl Hood Reeves. Marvin was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Echota Cotton Mills and later Crown Craft. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Jaco and one brother-in-law, Fred Brown and his wife, Ruby Brown, and one sister-in-law, Dot Starks. Survivors include: his wife, Gladys B. Reeves of Calhoun; One daughter, Shelba and her husband Ron Fortier of Canada; Three sons: Bobby Reeves and his wife Angie of Calhoun, Ronnie Reeves and his wife Gwen of Calhoun, and Tommy Reeves and Sue of Calhoun; Two sisters: Barbara Smith and her late husband Sanford Smith of Calhoun, and Mary Nell Hollingsworth of Atlanta and her late husband Jack Hollingsworth; Sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 12th from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Fred McCoy and the Reverend Clifford Free officiating. Tonya Turner, Janice Ridley and Carmen Free Green have charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Josh Jaco, Jason Jaco, Tommy Smith, Chris Reeves, Dustin Lavelle, Jeremy Wilson, Jimmy Norrell and Russell Sexton. Honorary Pallbearers include: John Russell, Larry Mulky, Jerry Mulky, Olen Holmes, Doug Dorsey, Billy Weaver, Ronald Sexton, Fred Nesbitt, Coleman Balliew, William Tyner, Bobby Balliew and Larry Cook. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7pm on Saturday, August 11th at the funeral home.
