Marvin William Allen

Marvin William Allen, age 89, of Calhoun. Died Monday morning May 9th in NHC of Rossville following an extended illness. Marvin was born June 28, 1921 in Polk County, Tennessee. Son of the late Jesse and Lillie Houck Allen. He was a member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee and prior to his retirement was employed by Halls Furniture Store. Besides his parents Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Allen. Survivors include his son, Roy Allen of Cookville, TN.. Two daughters; Marlene Maynard of Philadelphia, TN., and Charlene Edwards of Calhoun. One Brother, Jack Allen of Polk County, TN..Three sisters; Dorothy Couch of Polk County, Mable McAllister and Evelene Murray both of Cleveland. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 14th at 11AM from the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. With Rev. Sammy Allen and Rev. Marvin Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Straw Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Brandon Ensley, Jeremy Ensley, Joseph Miller, Jason Lucas, Danny Miller, and David Edwards. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday at 10am.
