Martha Frances Long, age 80 of Rome and formerly of the Sugar Valley Community, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Martha was born on January 27, 1935 in Floyd County to the late John Lyman White and Opal Currence White. She was a graduate of Sugar Valley High School Class of 1953, and was former owner and operator of Flowers by Sunshine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Arnold Long; and son, Steven Arnold Long.
Survivors include her son, Tedd Long of Rome; sister, Lana Mae O’Malley of Rome; two grandchildren, Ryan Long and Kellen Long both of California; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, December 17th at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Howard Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sugar Valley High School Class of 1953.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 AM until the funeral hour at 11 AM at Thomas Funeral Home.
