Martha Ann Davis

Martha Ann Davis, age 83 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation.

Martha was born on February 4, 1939 in Gordon County, GA at the Johnson-Hall Hospital upstairs (next to what is now the Harris Arts Center) to the late Charlton Max Hilley and Mary Dale Bruce Hilley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, B.D. “Buddy” Davis; and aunt, Virginia “Dee” Hilley.

Martha was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1957. She continued her education at Massey Business College of Atlanta, GA where she attended their night classes and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. On September 29, 1957 she married Buddy D. Davis. Prior to her retirement, Martha worked for Southern Latex of Dalton, GA, Calhoun Junior High School, State of Georgia Superior Court Judges’ Office, and Buddy Davis Charter Coach Tours. She was a member of the Calhoun Jaycettes where she also served as a Past President, Calhoun Quarter Back Club where she served as secretary for 2 years, and the Board of Friends of the Gem Theatre. She was member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church. Martha was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, traveling, animals and especially spending time with her grandson.

Martha is survived by: her son, Russell Davis and his wife Larissa; grandson, Parker Davis and his wife Hope; sister-in-law, Maxine Talley Cobb; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 11 PM until 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jether Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Reverend James Shope in charge of graveside rites.

Pallbearers serving include: Bill Thompson, Scott Clements, Joe Taylor, Jimmy Knight, Donnie Everett and Trevor Parker. Judge Tom Pope and Butch Burch will serve as an Honorary Pallbearers.
