Marlene Samples Cowart, age 78 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Calhoun Health Care. Marlene was born on June 4, 1940 in Gordon County, GA to the late Carl Samples and Gladys Carlisle Samples. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Cowart and her brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Gladys Samples. Marlene was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church. Marlene is survived by: her daughter, Tyka Robinson; son, Brent Cowart and his wife Son Hui; brother, David Samples; brothers-in-law, Richard Cowart and his wife Brenda, and Joe Cowart and his wife Sandy; grandchildren, Jason and Meghan Walter, Chandler and Nikki Walter, Blair Robinson, Bryn Robinson, Jared Cowart, and Jade Cowart; and two great-grandchildren, Harper and Hollis Walter. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 22nd at 4 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jeremy Kirby. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 PM until the funeral hour at 4 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
