Marjorie Dobbs Lovvorn, age 89 of Lyman, South Carolina, formally of Calhoun, passed away on July 9, 2020.
Marjorie was born on July 12, 1930 to the late Frank Johnston Dobbs and Etta Moss Dobbs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Lovvorn; brothers, Frank J Dobbs Jr., and Ronald Merrill Dobbs and his wife Barbara; and a son, William H. “Bill” Lovvorn Jr.. Marjorie and her husband Bill, a Carrollton native, met in 1947 while they were students at West Georgia College. They were married soon afterwards and were married for 62 years until Bill's death in 2011.
She was always beautiful, witty and loving, and was an avid bridge player. She always dedicated her life to the care of her family and friends. Marjorie was a devoted member of Calhoun First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Willis and her husband Jim of Lyman, SC; four grandchildren, Michael Willis and his Lynne of Greenville, SC, Neal Lovvorn of Buford, GA, Lindsey Vaughn and her husband Travis of Campobello, SC, and Mackenzie Clotworthy and her husband Ricky from Cypress, TX; sister-in-law, Sandra Gowing of Carrollton, Ga; brother-in-law, Bob Lovvorn and his wife Elaine of Greensboro, NC; nieces, Drena Dobbs, Teena Moody, Cheri Wolfe, and Michelle Lovvorn; nephews, Ron Dobbs, Robert Lovvorn, Hank Lovvorn, Mark Gordon and Elliott Gordon; eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
