Marjean Robinson McDearis

Melba Marjean Robinson McDearis, age 90 of Calhoun died at 12:14 AM Sunday, Sunday, March 2 in Gordon Health Care of Calhoun from an extended illness. Marjean was born, August 22, 1923 in Gordon County, a daughter of the late James Monroe Robinson and Mary Frances Fuller Robinson. She had spent all of her life in Gordon County and was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in various organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle McDearis, her son, Keith McDearis, her brothers Jack, Howard, and Alfred Robinson; two nephews, Ronald Robinson and Jimmy McDearis; sister in law, Jemae West Robinson; and a brother in law Glenn McDearis and his wife Odell. Marjean was employed for many years at the Tot Roost and proudly assisted in the dressing many of Calhoun’s children. She is survived by one daughter, Dianne McDearis Reynolds of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Paige Reynolds Lester and her husband Todd of Birmingham, Christopher Michael Reynolds and his wife Kim, also of Birmingham; three great grandchildren, Caroline Olivia Lester, Ryan Christopher Lester and Lucas Michael Reynolds all of Birmingham; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 5 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers are David Robinson, Kevin McDearis, Monte McDearis, Sam Harwell, Harry Harwell, Hank Dobson, Charles Dillard, Charles Hall, Phil Robbins, Sam Thomas, and Chester Utz. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM, Wednesday. Honorary escort are members of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
