Maribeth Prather Owens

Maribeth Prather Owens, age 78 of Gordon County, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at The Arbor at Bridgemill in Canton, GA. Maribeth was born on February 22, 1941 in Sand Mountain, Alabama to the late Ted Prather and Zell Hood Prather. In addition to her parents, Maribeth is also preceded in death by: her husband of 56 years, Tom Owens; and sister, Jerelle Moore. Maribeth was a member of Farmville United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, Maribeth worked as a poultry farmer, and also for the Calhoun Watch Shop for over 30 years. Maribeth is survived by: her two daughters, Debra Farist and her husband Mark of Canton, and Connie Ross of Calhoun; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1st at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Mark Farist officiating. Phil Cross will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Gaines Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: Owen Farist, Ben Farist, Thomas Ross, Swayze Johnson, Keith Beason, and Kollin Beason.
