Margaret Holland Sears, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 in Ash Flat, Arkansas where she had resided for the past several years.
Margaret was born on January 24, 1923 in Gordon County, GA to the late James Miles Burdette and Addy Layton Burdette. She was a member of Hartwell United Methodist Church until her move to Arkansas. She was formerly employed by Dekalb County School System as a teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John I. Holland, Jr.; her husband Carroll B. Sears; two sisters, Virginia Brogdon and Joann Burdette; and one brother, W.C. “Bill” Burdette.
She is survived by her son, John K. Holland and his wife Cindy of Hardy, AR; daughter, Elaine Wilde and her husband Rusty of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Jim Burdette and his wife Sarah of Rome, GA; sister, Carolyn Clements of Avondale, GA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Friday, November 15th at 1:00pm from Chandler Cemetery with the Reverend Keith Willard officiating.
