Sunday, September 13, 2009 Mrs. Margaret Tallulah Hollaran King, loving mother, grandmother and friend, age 83 native of Calhoun, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at Gordon Hospital Margaret was born in Gordon County on Jan. 25, 1926 daughter of the late Michael David and Mary Jackson Hollaran and had been a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Salem Church and Belmont Baptist Church. At Belmont Church , she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as church secretary and actively participated in Belmont Quilter’s Group. She attended Mercer University. She served as secretary for the Agriculture Department and a teacher, secretary and librarian in the Gordon County School system, principally at Belwood School . She was involved in numerous Gordon County charities throughout her life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie B. King and her brothers, James Hollaran and Jack Hollaran. She is survive by her sons; Mike King and his wife Catherine of Rome, Bernard King and his wife Sherry of Dallas, Ga. and John Robert King and his wife Neva. of Calhoun.Three grandchildren; Phillip, Erin and Issiah King. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 15th., from the Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. Sons and Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday September 14th. In addition to flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Belmont Baptist Church the Arthritis Foundation or non-perishable food be made to the Gordon County food bank.
