Major Jack C. Knight, U.S. Air Force retired, age 84 of Calhoun, died Tuesday November 16th. following several months of declining health.
Jack was born in Calhoun, Ga. on Nov. 17, 1926 son of the late John T. and Mary Bell Knight. He joined the Army Air Corp during WWII and retired from the United States Air Force as a Major having served in three wars WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Jack was devoted not only to his country but to his family who travel with him all over the world. He was of the Baptist faith and a life member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Dymple Knight and a sister; Mildred Thompson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Marie and John Meadows, III of Calhoun, grandchildren John Brian Jackson "B.J." Meadows and Melissa Rieshan Meadows, great-grandchildren; John William Meadows and Brian Patrick Meadows. As well as a nephew, Larry Thompson of Miami, Fl..
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday November 20th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Rev. Ken Waddell will have charge of the graveside rites at Fain Cemetery. Personal from Robbins Air Force Base will conduct the burial with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning at 10am until the funeral hour.
