“Maggie” Floyd, age 78 of the Scottsville Community, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Maggie was born on March 4, 1939 to the late D.B. Duncan and Henrietta Potts Duncan. Also, she was preceded in death by a son, Shane Floyd and four brothers, Wesley S. Duncan, John T. “Jay” Duncan, D.B. Duncan Jr., and Buddy Duncan. She had retired from Galey and Lord Mills of Shannon with 43 years of service and was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Plainville. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and “granny”
Maggie is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Windell Floyd of the Scottsville Community; one daughter, Michele M. Floyd of Great Mills, MD; three sisters-in-law and caregiver, Debby Parker and her husband, Roy Parker; Delores Hunt and her husband, Clyde Hunt; and Doris Culberson; one brother in law, Spencer Floyd; nieces and nephews; 3 grandchildren, Jacin Gray and his wife Megan, Amanda Bentil and her husband Kwame, and Megan Gray; 3 great grandchildren, Savannah Phelps, Elijah Bentil, and Davis Gray.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, June 9 at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Shane Parrott officiating. Brent Davis will have charge of music. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery near Plainville.
Pallbearers serving will be Renford Wright, Mark Wright, Jamie Floyd, Clyde Hunt and Roy Parker. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM Friday.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
