Mack D. Serritt, age 85 of Calhoun died at 2:05 PM, Friday, April 11 in Erlanger Hospital of Chattanooga.
Mack D. was born, April 16, 1928 in Gordon County, son of the late Ollie M. Taylor Serritt and George Maxwell Serritt. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mamie Wilson Serritt and a brother Duane Serritt. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a member of the South Calhoun Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday Class. He was the co-owner of Calhoun Farm Supply which began business January 2, 1973. He retired at age 65.
Mack D. is survived by three sons, Roger Serritt and his wife Shyrel of Calhoun, Rickey Serritt and his wife, Theresa of Kennesaw, Nathan Serritt and his wife Miranda of Calhoun; one daughter, Diane Wilson and her husband Tyrone of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Sunday, April 13 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Gary Bowman and Duane Bohannon officiating. Carmen Green will have charge of music and burial will be in Gordon Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Clifford Free in charge of graveside rites.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, and from 2:00 until 2:30 PM Sunday preceding the funeral service. Active pallbearers are Roger, Rickey, and Nathan Serritt, Jeremy Dean, Brian Holt, and Justin Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:00 PM, Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the South Calhoun Baptist Church building fund, PO Box 552, Calhoun, GA. 30703 in addition to flowers.
