Mable Hopper Hunt, age 77 of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Gordon Hospital.
Mable was born on May 27, 1939 to the late Thomas Claude and Martha Goswick Hopper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Sharon McEntyre; and second husband, Howard Douglas Hunt and a sister in law, Susan Hopper. She was a member of Plainville United Methodist Church, and worked at Wal-Mart for over 20 years in customer service. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1957.
She is survived by her son, Richard Sharon “Rick” McEntyre and his partner, Michael Herron of Atlanta, and their daughter, Ashley Herron Freedman of California as well as three brothers, Thomas R. “Dicky” Hopper and his wife Jane of Plainville, Bryant Hopper and his wife Wilma of Summerville, and Leslie Hopper of Rome; and two sisters, Vivian Carden of Rome and Mitzi Hopper Lindsey and her husband Ben of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, November 6th at 2 PM at Plainville United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wal-Mart employees.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun. Mable will lie in state on Sunday from 1 PM until the funeral hour at 2 PM at the church.
