Mrs. Mabel Andrews Harris, age 81 of the Ranger Community died at 10:55 AM, Saturday, January 16 following several weeks of illness.
Mabel was born in Gordon County, August 3, 1928, daughter of the late Mack A. Andrews and Dorothy Davenport Andrews. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Harris, a daughter, Linda Orlene Harris, two brothers, Robert Andrews and Wayne Andrews, and a sister, Mary Wilson. She was a member of the Fairview Church of God and was a well-known singer and musician for many years. Mabel, her sister, Mary Wilson, and daughter, Iris Parker sang together and were known as the Fairview Trio.
Mabel is survived by three daughters, Iris Parker and her husband Johnny, Doris Lowry, Phyllis Gowens and her husband Danny; and one sister, Edna Corn all of Ranger; one brother, Charles Andrews and his wife, Martha of Powder Springs; 7 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 18 at the Fairview Church of God near Ranger with the Reverends Ed Pasley, Eddie Umbehant, and Daron Henson officiating. Valerie Taylor, Richie Parker, Leah Roach, and Matt Lacey will have charge of music. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Matt Lacey, Danny Hyde, Paul Cass, Jimmy Johns, Ralph Tatum, Jr., Terry Fouts, Mike Yancey, Ben Wilson, Marvin Young, Robert Carnley and Dean Lowe, and they are asked to meet at the church at 2:45 PM Monday.
The Harris family will receive friends after 3:00 PM, Sunday at Fairview Church of God.
