Mrs. Mable Boston Barton age 93, of the Sonoraville community , died Wednesday July 21, 2010 in the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Mable was born in Gordon County December 30, 1916. Daughter of the late Henry Felton Boston and Kate Lou Porter Boston. She was the oldest member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and prior to her retirement was employed by Georgia Textile for 50 years. Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Tate Barton in 1960, a brother, Ford "Jack" Boston and a great granddaughter, Tiffany Knight.
Survivors include one son; David Barton and his wife Patty of Calhoun, four daughters; Loretta Hicks of Jasper, Janis Ward and Brenda Bates and her husband Bob all of Calhoun and Norma Ash and her husband James of Hazlehurst, Ga.. Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 24th at 11AM from the Erwin Hill Church of God. With Rev. Junior Clayton and Rev. James Shope officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include; Sam Davis, Jerome Boswell, Neal Ward, Ernie Knight, Jamie Barton, Danny Crowe, and Jay Carver.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 8pm.
