M. Everett Nix

M. Everett Nix, age 83 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on November 21, 2020 at AdventHealth Gordon. Everett was born on January 3, 1937 in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Bailey Nix and Ruby McDearis Nix. In addition to his parents, Everett is also preceded in death by: two brothers, Bailey “Gene” Nix and John Nix and his wife Barbara Fischer Nix; and daughter-in-law, Amy Nix. Everett was a lifetime resident of Gordon County, GA and attended House of Prayer Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Georgia Textile. Everett was a hot rod enthusiast and well known for his automotive paint and body repair. He was a hard working man who loved his family and his church where he held many positions in the church from Sunday school teacher, choir director, and pianist. Everett is survived by: his wife, Pat Johnston Nix; son, Scott Nix; granddaughter, Morgan Ann Smith; sister-in-law, Mary Nix; special friend, Ann Shugart; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at AdventHealth Gordon ICU and PCU. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Isaac Johns and Brother Scott Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Daniel Brown and Reverend Mike Winchester in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving include: Curtis Snodgrass, Sammy Lewis, Manuel Hernandez, Clifford Mattos, Phillip McDaniel, and Keith Puckett. Honorary Pallbearers include: Mike and Kay Young, Kimberly Lewis, Wanda Hernandez, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and church members. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 3 PM until 6 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
