Lucius Gilreath, age 86 of the Sonoraville Community, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Lucius was born on February 26, 1929 in Bartow County to the late Hugh L. Gilreath and Nina Perry Gilreath. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an extra class ham radio operator and his call signal was WB4QMJ (QRT) since 1970. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Morris Gilreath and his first wife, Nancy Gilreath.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Bryant Gilreath of the Sonoraville Community; two sons, Allan Gilreath and his wife Hayley and Tim Gilreath and his wife Wendy; one daughter, Angela Gilreath-Rivers and her husband Curtis; one step-son, Bill Bryant; three step-daughters, Margarita Lowrance and her husband Billy, Kimberly Oney and her husband James, and Sherri Whorton; five grandchildren, Keila Rivers, Lindsey Gilreath, Molly Gilreath, Patrick Gilreath and Owen Gilreath; and two great-grandchildren, Macy Lopez and Madison Lopez.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 PM from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Burgner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers serving include Kenneth Hayes, Hank Mauldin, Mark Smith, Rodney Curtis, Barry Wright and Gene Fouts.
Honorary Escorts will be the Hands at Work 4 Christ.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home and also on Thursday Mr. Gilreath will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
In addition to flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church building fund.
