LTC Richard Milo “Dick” Gordon, age 77 of Resaca, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Redmond Regional Center. Dick was born on July 11, 1937 in Rapid City, SD to the late Roy T. Gordon and Gertrude Gordon. He was a member of the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, and a graduate of the University of Washington. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army for more than 26 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dick also served as a Gordon County Commissioner from January 2007 – December 2010. He was a member and past Master of the Resaca Masonic Lodge # 724 and the Calhoun Lion’s Club. He owned and operated Gordon Sign Company until his death. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Peterson Gordon of Resaca; son, David Gordon and his wife Melissa; two daughters, Selina Gordon Schulten and her husband Robert, III and Lannae Gordon of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, November 13th at 10 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Father Louis Tonsmeire officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be member of the Calhoun Lion’s Club and Mason from our local lodges. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in the U.S. National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full military honors. The family request that in lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Heart of the Community Guest House @ 501 Redmond Road, Rome, Georgia, 30165 or to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church @ 224 Trammel Street, Calhoun, Georgia, 30701. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday.
