Linda Parker Fletcher, 80, of Calhoun, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 31st, 2024, at her residence.
Born on September 29, 1944, in Bartow County, Linda was the daughter of the late John Colquitt Parker and Sybil Bunch Parker. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Fletcher; a brother, Johnny “Fuzz” Parker; and sisters, Sandra Pritchett and Patricia Parker.
Linda worked as a dental hygienist in Calhoun and surrounding areas for over 40 years, working for several dentists throughout her career. After retirement, she devoted her time volunteering for historical organizations including The Friends of New Echota, Trail of Tears Association, The Friends of Red Clay, and the Gordon County Historical Society. Linda expressed an interest in history, genealogy, and learning about the history and culture of the Cherokee People. Linda also loved helping her church family, especially leading music and singing in the choir. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gordon County.
Linda is survived by her two sons, John Wade Thomas (Eric Fleckenstein) of Mableton, GA and Bobby Zane Thomas of Tahlequah, OK; a brother, Charles Parker & Brenda Parker of Calhoun -daughter, Jennifer Poarch (Alan); a sister, Carole Jackson & Billy Jackson of Centre, AL – daughter, Candice Hanaway (Thair), & son, Mickey Jackson; sister-in-law Cheryl Parker of Calhoun -son, Cody Parker, and a special nephew, Willy Pritchett (Petrina) of Calhoun. Linda also had numerous grandnieces and nephews whom she adored.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 4th at 2 pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. John Leatherwood officiating, Rev. Jether Cochran will be in charge of the music. Burial will follow in Snow Springs Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Jether Cochran officiating and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4th from 11 am until 2 pm.
