Linda Jane Davis

Davis, Linda Jane Matthews - Age 66 of Calhoun, GA, formerly of Marietta, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 in Calhoun. The daughter of Milton T. (Mickey) Matthews and the late Charlotte Law Matthews was born Dec. 4, 1945 in Albany, GA. She grew up in Marietta, graduating from Marietta High School in 1963, then attending Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and becoming an RN. As a pastor's wife, Linda served alongside her husband, Rev. Charles J. Davis for many years in the United Methodist Church. She was retired from Dalton College where she worked as a nursing professor. She was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church in Calhoun. Linda is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rev. Charles J. Davis of Calhoun, daughters Clare Davis Tate (Doug) of Dallas, GA; Anna Davis Tang (Hinh) of Cumming, GA; and Rebecca Davis of Savannah, GA; and son Judson M. Davis (Keeley) of Bedford, VA. She and husband Charles were blessed with 6 grandchildren, Sydney Tang, Sarah Tate, Mia Tang, Andrew Tang, Ashley Tate and Isaac Tang, and stepgrandson Nic Tate. She is also survived by father Milton T. (Mickey) Matthews of Marietta, and sister Lee Ann Matthews of Marietta. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, August 24th at Meadowdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Walters and Tim Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Linda will lie in state at the church from 10 until the funeral hour. Pallbearers serving include: Dan Davis, Jesse Davis, John Davis, Mark Davis, Ben Davis and Nic Tate. The Joan Gallman Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 – 9pm on Thursday, August 23rd at the funeral home.
