Mrs. Lina Holcomb Ruddell age 90 of 115 Sixth st. Calhoun, died unexpectedly Sunday at her residence.
Mrs. Ruddell was born in Gordon County on Feb. 18, 1917 daughter of the late Joseph H. and Cora Elizabeth Buffington Holcomb. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church, was employed in the Textile Industry for a number of years working for Regent Mills in the Shipping Department. She was a Charter Member of the Calhoun Middle School P.T.A., was very active in Fund Raising for the Heart Association and Cancer Society and for many years had worked for VAC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie L. Ruddell in 2005, brothers; J. D., Bud, C.L., Hilburn and Robert Harmon Holcomb and sisters; Nettie Holcomb, Christine Allen, Ruby Golohon, Allie Mincey, Etta Lou Holcomb, Pauline Holcomb, and Bessie May Holcomb.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Verne Mowers of Bradenton Florida, three sons and daughters-in-law; Phillip H. and Jeanette Ruddell of Calhoun, Jeffrey D. and Linda Ruddell of Calhoun, and W.Scott and Charlene Ruddell of Dalton. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with a number of nieces , nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday Feb. 14th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. George Ross and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Russ Scott, Greg Ruddell, Brian Ruddell, Matthew Ruddell, Bud Owens and Estes Pass. Honorary pallbearers include; Tommy Allen, Charles Holcomb, Collis Holcomb, Joe Woolum, Donnie Holcomb, Teddy Holcomb and Roy Rutledge and all these gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Thursday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. Rachel Harris will have charge of the music .
