Lillian Blackstock Baker, age 84 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at her residence.
Lillian was born on May 26, 1932 in Gordon County, GA to the late Marvin Lee Blackstock and Maude Lillian Gallman Blackstock. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, and briefly served as a deputy sheriff under her husband, Pat Baker, who was sheriff. Lillian was a good cook and homemaker, and won several awards and blue ribbons at numerous fairs. She was the best help mate a man could have.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Pat Baker of Calhoun; son, Rex Baker and his wife Terri of Calhoun; daughter, Lydia Kelsoe of Calhoun; brother, Perry Blackstock and his wife Carolyn of Calhoun; sister, Jean Parrott and her husband Henry of Calhoun; three grandchildren, Mikaila Baker, Caty Goss and Jacob Kelsoe and his wife Elizabeth; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella Goss, Sullivan Goss and Olivia Kelsoe also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, November 4th at Maranatha Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Crider and Reverend Ron Bankson officiating. Mary Lynn Crider will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Mark Talley in charge of graveside rites.
Pallbearers serving will be Mark Talley, Keith Henson, Randy Walraven, Jackie Clayton, Harold Crump, Rodney Key, Tony Holder and Harold Blackstock. Honorary pallbearers will be local law enforcement officers, Maranatha Ladies, Marilyn Hice, Jeanie Stover, Carolyn Perry, Evelyn Stephens, Margie Crump and caregivers Tasha Nations, Kim Franklin and Stephanie Davis.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Lillian will lie in state at Maranatha Baptist Church on Friday from 1 PM until the funeral hour at 2 PM.
