Libby Ann Scott, age 94 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at her residence surrounded by family and her beloved nurse, Sharon.
Libby was born on December 14, 1921 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph Capek and Josephine Jane Filipek Capek. She was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, and worked for Pan American Airlines for over 23 years. Libby made her home with her granddaughter, Michelle Newton and her husband Andy for the last 10 ½ years. She was an avid golfer, loved traveling and boating, and loved dogs and horses. She was an incredibly independent and adventuresome person. In addition to her parents, Libby was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Scott; first husband, John Stalbird; brother-in-law, Joe Stalbird; and sister, Elsie Micek.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Smith and her husband Orrie of Reedville, VA; step son, Brian Scott and his wife Barbara of Jonesboro, GA; and sister, Patricia Preston and her husband Don of Florida; three grandchildren, Michelle Newton and her husband Andy of Calhoun, Sean Kesler and his wife Lisa of Beaver, PA, and Gabrielle Jones of Williamsburg, VA; eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, December 28th at 11:00 AM from the St. Clement's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Shaute officiating. Burial will take place on Thursday, December 31st in St. Catherine Cemetery of Moscow, PA with full military honors.
Pallbearers serving will be Andy Newton, Daniel Newton, Jack Rhea, Billy Ray White, Ray Balliew and Travis Potter.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 2 until 4 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
