Lettie "Charlie" Wilbanks Silvers

Lettie "Charlie" Wilbanks Silvers, age 97 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her residence. Lettie was born on October 21, 1917 in Calhoun to the late Jesse and Ella Wilbanks. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and prior to her retirement worked for Echota Cotton Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Silvers; two brothers, Bill Wilbanks and Fred Wilbanks; and six sisters, Lilly Dodd, Ruth Stone, Pauline McBee, Ada Defoor, Maebeth Wilbanks and Bessie Davis. She is survived by her son, Ricky Silvers and his wife Sherry; daughter, Linda Ruddell and her husband Jeff; five grandchildren, Jennifer Trimble, Jacob Silvers, Brian Ruddell, Matthew Ruddell and Caleb Silvers; six great-grandchildren, Meadow Trimble, Colton Trimble, Owen Ruddell, Davis Ruddell, Christian Ruddell and Catherine Ruddell. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 21st at 4 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Walter Hare officiating. Pallbearers serving include Clifton Smith, Larry Lovingood, Tim Roe, Shane Causby, Bobby Dodd and Scott Carter. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Bearden, Larry Bowen, Bobby Causby, Jerome Henderson, Roy Chadwick, Larry Roberts, Roy Rutledge and Kelly Cornwell. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 PM until the funeral hour at 4 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
