Leonard William Howard, age 67 of Calhoun died Saturday, March 7 in the US Veterans Administration Hospital near Decatur.
Leonard was born, September 15, 1947 in Cartersville, son of Nadine Massey Talbert and the late James William Howard. He was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Hall Realty and was a Baptist.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty Thaxton Howard of Calhoun; mother, Nadine Massey Talbert of Cartersville; daughters, DeDe Howard Florence and her husband Mark of Dallas, Ann Marie Vollmar and her husband Daniel of Cumming, one son Jonathan Wayne Howard and his wife Brandy of Spartanburg, South Carolina; twin sister, Linda Goble and her husband Sammy of Cartersville; stepmother, Frances Howard of Acworth, stepbrother, Mickey Hufstetler and his wife Vickie of Marietta; four grandchildren, Jordan Florence, Max Florence, Kyler Vollmar, and Sutton Howard, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services for Mr. Howard will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 10th at the graveside of the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton, Georgia with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, March 9 at the funeral home.
