Leoma Phillips Thompson, 91, of Calhoun passed away on Saturday August 18, 2012 at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Atco, GA to Thomas Jackson Phillips and Laura Hicks Phillip. In 1941 she was married to her childhood sweetheart, Charles "Jack" Thompson. She was a lifelong baseball fan and loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful mother and was adored by her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack and her parents as well as two sisters, Eunice Phillips Fowler and Reba Phillips and her brothers, V.S., Doyle, Arvil, Mickey, Ted and Starling Phillips.
She is survived by her beloved "Little Sis" Peggy Stewart and her husband Luther "Buddy" Stewart of Calhoun, her son, John "Tommy" Thompson of Carolina Beach, NC., her daughters, Martha Maguire of Maphopac, NY. and Sandra Hogan and her husband Bill Hogan of Cartersville, six grandchildren, William Maguire and his wife Diana of Tampa, FL., Kelley Harris and her husband Paul of Mahopac, NY., Tina Eister and her husband Mark of Kennesaw, GA., Barbara Martin and her husband Allen of Cartersville, GA., Lee Ann Thompson of Boynton Beach, FL, and Aaron Thompson of Carolina Beach, NC., her loving and devoted caregiver, Stephanie Walraven of Calhoun and 13 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as her sister-in-laws; Maggie Phillips of Brooks, GA., Edith Phillips of Calhoun, Pat Phillips of Calhoun and Millie Thompson of Orlando, FL.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Tommy Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday August 19, 2012 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM.
Pallbearers are: Bill Hogan, Allen Martin, Austin Stone, Aaron Thompson, Mark and M.J. Eister.
