Leila Harper Fuqua, age 65, of Gordon County. Died Thursday morning November 25th in the Floyd Medical Center.
Leila was born June 23, 1945, in Floyd County. Daughter of the late Cleon and Nora Norton Harper. She had worked at Klopman Mills prior to her retirement and was a member of the Wax Baptist Church. Leila was preceded in death by her grandson, Charles Cook.
Survivors include her husband Marvin E. Fuqua of Plainville. A son, Mark Evans and his wife Wendy of Rome. One daughter, Cynthia Evans Hiers and her finance' Shane Robbins of Plainville. One sister, Rebecca Stewart of Alabama. A stepson, Tony Fuqua of Rockmart. Two grandchildren; Brittany Hawkins and Jessica Lankford. Three step-grandchildren; Tyler, Taylor, and Tayte Fuqua. Four great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday November 28th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Ted Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery in Rome.
Pallbearers serving include; Pete Whittle, Jerry Evans, Taylor Fuqua, Thomas Watkins, Chris and Danny Hightower. Tommy Whittle and Vaughn King will serve as a Honorary Escorts.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8pm.
