Tuesday, February 16, 2010 Mr. Lee Johnson age 80 long time City of Calhoun Police Officer, died Tuesday Feb. 16th. in Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga from complications from an auto accident on Feb. 3, 2010. Lee was born in Pickens County, Ga. on Nov. 9, 1929 son of the late Perry Hilan and Emma Lee Tillery Johnson. He retired as a Capt. With the Calhoun City Police Dept. in 1987 after 31 years service, and was one of Calhoun’s first Motorcycle Officers. and was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Glenn Johnson and a sister; Grace Ray. Survivors include his wife; Ann Johnson of Calhoun, a son Dale and his wife Elizabeth Johnson , two daughters; Wanda Bertron and her husband J.D. , and Patsy Buffington and her husband Danny . 11 grandchildren and they include; Matthew and Tiffany Johnson, Jacob and Renee Johnson, David Bufffington, Joshua and Margaret Mote, T.J. Mote, Patrick Mote, Jessica Mote, Drew Benton, Stephanie Benton, Nichole Hurtado and Helen Hurtado, 5 great-grandchildren; Drake, Destiny, Emilee and Madison Johnson and Corban Richard. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday Feb. 18th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Bowman, Rev. Clifford Free and Police Chaplain Wayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Dalton American Legion Post. Pallbearers serving include Hoyt Bates, Randy Gallman, Wayne Brown, Garry Moss, Larry Gilbert and Kevin Sutton. Members of the Calhoun Police Department and all Law Enforcement Officers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M.
