MR. LEE HUNT, AGE 82, OF 792 HUNTS GIN RD, CALHOUN, DIED SUNDAY JULY 9TH. IN GORDON HOSPTIAL FOLLOWING SEVERAL WEEKS OF DECLINING HEALTH. LEE WAS BORN GORDON COUNTY ON JULY 22, 1923 A SON OF THE LATE WILLIAM PAUL HUNT , SR. AND JOSIE ANN SMITH HUNT AND HAD SPENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE HERE AND WAS A WELL KNOWN FARMER AND COTTON GIN OPERATOR. HE WAS A MEMBER AND DEACON OF THE PLEASANT HILL BAPTIST CHURCH FOR MANY YEARS ,THE COOSAWATTE MASONIC LODGE F & A.M. #306 FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND WAS PAST MASTER. HE ALSO ATTENDED THE RESACA DAYLIGHT LODGE. LEE WAS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE GORDON COUNTY MASONIC MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION AND WAS THE SELF APPOINTED MAYOR OF THE NEEDMORE COMMUNITY. FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS WAS AN ACTIVE SINGER AND LEADER OF THE LEE HUNT QUARTET. HE HAD TAUGHT SINGING SCHOOLS AND WAS HOST OF THE LEE HUNT ” SUNDAY NOON” RADIO PROGRAM AND WAS PAST PRESIDENT OF THE GORDON COUNTY SINGING CONVENTION. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY AN INFANT SON LARRY DAVID HUNT, THREE BROTHERS; RALPH, SAM AND W.P. HUNT JR. AND A SISTER; IDELLE HUNT RUTLEDGE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE JULIA LOU MOSS HUNT, TWO DAUGHTERS AND SONS-IN-LAW: FREDA AND ELVIN GLASS OF CALHOUN AND DELILAH AND BROCK BAXTER ALSO OF CALHOUN ,ONE SON AND DTR-IN-LAW REV. MICHAEL AND JANICE HUNT OF CALHOUN:THREE SISTERS: GENEVA McAFEE OF OAKMAN, SARA HAMMOND OF SUGAR VALLEY AND MAXINE FLOYD OF PLAINVILLE. SIX GRANDCHILDREN: REV. JAMEY HUNT AND HIS WIFE LEIGH, REV. WESLEY HUNT AND HIS WIFE HEATHER, SETH HUNT, PAIGE MULLINAX AND HER HUSBAND KEVIN, JULIE NESBITT AND HER HUSBAND GRANT AND KATE BAXTER, SIX GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: MADISON, NOAH, AND COOPER HUNT, GAVIN, BAILEY AND ETHAN NESBITT.SEVERAL NIECES, NEPHEWS GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND COUSINS ALSO SURVIVE. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED AT 3:00 P.M. TUESDAY JULY 11TH. FROM THE PLEASANT HILL BAPTIST CHURCH WITH REV. JAMEY HUNT, REV. WESLEY HUNT, REV. MICHAEL HUNT AND REV. BARRY BROCK OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN THE MOUNT PLEASANT METHODIST CEMETERY AT RED BUD WITH REV. WINFRED CASEY & REV. LAMAR BEARDEN IN CHARGE . PALLBEAERS SERVING INCLUDE; STEVE GREY, KENNETH GREESON, MARK OWENS, DONALD McREYNOLDS, JIMMY DAVIS, STEVE SMITH, MICHAEL SMITH AND WAYNE SHEPHERD AND THEY ARE ASKED TO MEET AT THE THOMAS FUNERAL HOME AT 2:15 P.M. TUESDAY. HONORARY PALLBEARERS SERVING INCLUDE; JERRY CLEMENTS, REV. J.E. GLASS, RICHARD PULLUM, ROBERT HAYES, BILLY HOLBERT, ALONG WITH THE PLEASANT HILL CHURCH MEMBERS AND LOCAL MASONS AND THEY ARE ASKED TO MEET AT THE CHRUCH AT 2:45 P.M. ON TUESDAY. THE COOSAWATTEE LODGE # 306 WILL HAVE CHARGE OF THE MASONIC GRAVESIDE RITES. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS AT THE THOMAS FUNERAL HOME FROM 3:00 UNTIL 9:00 P.M. ON MONDAY JULY 10TH. IN ADDITION TO FLOWERS CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE MT. PLEASANT CEMETERY FUND % JIMMY FRENCH, 405 CASH RD. N.E. CALHOUN, GA. 30701 THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A “SPECIAL” THANK YOU TO DR. ERIC TURNER AND HIS NURSING STAFF, LYNN, CONNIE AND HEATHER FOR THEIR KIND LOVING CARE. THOMAS FUENRAL HOME HAS CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR MR. LEE HUNT.
