Lana Kay Mathis Autry

Lana Kay Mathis Autry, age 78 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at her residence.

Lana was born on January 21, 1947 in Bristol, Connecticut, daughter of the late Baxter Calvin Mathis and Mary Catherine Viola Pellerin Goswick. In addition to her parents, Lana was also preceded in death by her step-father, Dick Tilman Goswick; and a brother, Doug Goswick. Lana was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1964 and continued her education at Dalton State College where she earned her associate’s degree. She worked in quality control for Apache Mills, and was a member of Plainville United Methodist Church. Lana loved her rescue pets, collecting various rocks and minerals, working in the yard, and bird watching.

Lana is survived by: her son, Scott Autry of Plainville, GA; daughter, Julia (Cathy Granger) Autry of Tucker, GA; sister, Laurie (Ricky) Crawford; and two brothers, Dickie (Vickie) Goswick and Michael (Lisa) Miller.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Lana may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
