Mr. Kenneth Richard Bryant, age 76, of Calhoun. Died Saturday May 12th in Heartland Hospice of Cartersville following several months of declining health.
Mr. Bryant was born in Gordon County on November 16, 1930 son of the late Harley O. and Lily Mae Payne Bryant. Before returning to Calhoun he had resided in Metairie, La.. He served in the Merchant Marines for a number of years before entering the United States Army where he served in Germany and Korea in the mid-fifties. Before his retirement he was employed as a seafarer with Master Mates and Pilots. Mr. Bryant was a mariner who served as an able bodied seaman and officer who sailed all the oceans of the world. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Weyman C., James A., and A. Charles Bryant. Two sisters; Mildred B. Barrett and Betty Dadda, two nephews and one niece.
Survivors include one brother; Gerald Bryant of Port Townsend, Wa.. One sister; Mary Evelyn Bryant Sarber of Adairsville. Fifteen nieces and nephews, thirty-four great nieces and nephews, along with several great-great nieces and nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday May 17th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Great nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm.
