Kathy Avon Smith Burchett

Kathy Avon Smith Burchett, age 75, of Chatsworth, passed away Saturday May 23rd at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Kathy was born March 10, 1940 in Gordon County, daughter of the late King Smith and Mary Thomason Smith. She was employed at Ingle’s Supermarket prior to her retirement and was a member of Moss Memorial Baptist Church. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Burchett, daughter, Susie Jones, a sister, Peggy Smith, brothers, Jimmy Smith, T.K. Smith and his wife Peggy, and Kenzil Smith, a niece, Ann McGowan. Survivors include her nephew, Doug Smith of Chatsworth, two sisters, Edress Nelson of Woodland, and Joyce Cook and her husband Herschel of Fairmount, a sister in law, Linda Smith, one granddaughter, Brianna Ingle, two great-granddaughters, Zoe and Stormi Ingle. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 25th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jamey Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until 3 pm prior to the service.
