Katherine Moorehead

Katherine E. Moorehead, age 86 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 14, 2017 at her residence. Katherine was born on January 18, 1931 to the late Thomas N. Edwards and Hattie Hazelwood Edwards. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James H. Rice; second husband, George W. Moorehead; daughter, Glenda Rice McMichen; son, Randall Rice; brother, Buster Edwards; and sister, Ophelia Langley. She was a member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy. Katherine was a devoted mother and loved all of her children dearly. She was a woman with a caretaker’s heart, and helped care for many different people over the years. She is survived by her three sons, Lamar Rice and his wife Susan, Todd Rice and his wife Kristie, and Jimmie Rice; daughter, Brenda Morris and her husband Frankie; brother, Don Edwards and his wife Denise; three sisters, Jeanette York and her husband Charles, Lois Redden and her husband Bill, and Ruth Boyd; five grandchildren, Mark Rice, Matthew Rice, Kaylie Rice, Summer Rice, and Bryson Rice; three great-grandchildren, Levi Rice and his wife Michelle, Jordan Holt and her husband Ben, and Joseph Land. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 17th at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Damascus Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Pallbearers serving will be Mark Rice, Levi Rice, Matthew Rice, Tony Gravitt, Tony York, and Saul Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles York and Bill Redden.
