Kathleen Hunt McFather, age 96, of Powder Springs and formerly of Calhoun and Gordon County died Thursday, August 11 at her residence.
Kathleen was born in Calhoun, daughter of the late John and Effie Mae Hunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Lowe, Betty Ruth Hunt and Johnny Clackum; one brother, Robert “Bob” Hunt, and a daughter, Margaret McCoy Watts. She had lived much of her life in Calhoun and formerly worked at Lockheed. She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church of Dalton where she was very involved in church activities. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, and gardening.
Kathleen is survived by husband, John McFather of Powder Springs; one daughter, Marie McFather Walker of Powder Springs; seven grandchildren, Brian Walker, Sarah Nichols, Allison Ferro, Daina Watts Lloyd, David Watts, Sean Watts, Jonathan Watts, and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16 from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Wes Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM preceding the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church of Dalton.
