Julian V. James

Julian V. James, age79 of Calhoun, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 in Gordon Hospital. Julian was born on December 13, 1932 in Gordon County. Son of the late Dwynell “Gulf” James and Ruth Hicks James Wyatt. Julian was Road Superintendent from April 1983 until his retirement in June 2002. After retirement he was a Consultant for the City of Calhoun and Gordon County. Prior to becoming Road Superintendent he worked for North Georgia Paving for over 25 years. Julian was a member of the Calhoun Elk’s Lodge and was an avid golfer. He and his wife, Jimmie would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary January 25th. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Wyatt and sister, Herlene Holden Fletcher. Survivors include; his wife, Jimmie Lee James of Calhoun. Two daughters; Sherry Stephens and her husband Danny of Calhoun, and Cindy James Jackson and Merle Moss of Calhoun. One brother, Sammy Wyatt and his wife Regina of Calhoun. Grandchildren; Keina Jackson, Kristy and Brad Fitch, and Shelly and Eric Stewart. Five great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. Garry Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Brad Fitch, Eric Stewart, Eddie Peterson, Johnny Harkins, Ronnie Walraven, and Rick Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of the City of Calhoun and Gordon County, as well as, Joe Powell, Howard Brock, Milton Stewart, Jimmy Prather, Claude Sisson, Russell Smith, Wayne Walters, Calvin Caldwell, Edward Boswell, Alan Theriault, James Thomason,Ron Free, Dr. Ted Pennel,and Lamar Dean. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21st from 3:00 – 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
