Joyce Ann "Nanny" Long

Joyce Ann “Nanny” Long, age 72 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Regency Park Health & Rehabilitation. Joyce was born on April 10, 1944 in Chattooga County, GA to the late Howard Leath and Mae Colson Leath. She was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church and was very active in the Oostanaula Community Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Long. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Stacie and Mitchell Dodd, Donna and Tony Edwards, and Barbara and Benny Morrow all of Calhoun; brother and sister-in-law, Buck and Barbara Leath of Summerville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Vivian and Doug Shireman of Trion, and Christine Silvers of Resaca; grandchildren, Dawn and Larry Franklin and their two children, Gabrielle Franklin and Trevor Franklin, Brianne and Josh Stafford and their two children, Max Stafford and Alex Stafford, April Edwards and her two children, Jesse Correll and PhoebeAnn Correll, Malana and Eric Kerce and their three children, Brantley Kerce, Ashley Montgomery and her family, and Jasmine Kerce, LaChance Dodd, Deke Morrow, and Kimberly and Ryker Franklin; and special friends, Mac and Sue Lewis, and Tucker Bridwell. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 13th at 4 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jamey Hunt and Reverend Greg Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Tim Kinsey, Eric Kerce, LaChance Dodd, Brant Murry, Randall Fuquea, and Tucker Bridwell serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be past children of “Nanny’s Daycare.” The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 4 until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
