Saturday, August 01, 2009 Mr. Joe Kilpatrick, age 89, of Sugar Valley. Died Friday afternoon July 31st in the Specialty Hospital of Floyd Medical Center. Joe was born November 2, 1919 in Farmington, Georgia. Son of the late Charlie and Florence Greenway Kilpatrick. He was employed as a Quality Control Engineer with Lockheed Aircraft for 34 years prior to his retirement and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. His greatest loved was his wife and family, the outdoors, and all of his many friends. He was a man that followed his convictions and was proud to have worked in the CCC Camps during the depression. Joe was attending the East Calhoun Church of God at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife Amelia Pollard Kilpatrick of Sugar Valley. One son; Dwayne Kilpatrick and his wife Karon of Sugar Valley. Three daughters; Brenda Watkins of Sugar Valley, Deborah Steele and her husband John of Calhoun, and Marsha Wilson and her husband Gary of Sugar Valley. Two brothers; Bob Kilpatrick of Charleston, SC., and Jamie Kilpatrick of Bishop, GA..One sister; Ruzzell Crawford of Tucker, GA.. Ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday August 4th, at 11AM in the East Calhoun Church of God. With Rev. Keith Reid and Rev. Jimmie Timms officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers include Derek Allen, Cameron Watkins, Joey Watkins, Robbie Watkins, Billy Green, Adam Walker, Eddie Key, Gary Wilson, and John Steele. You may call at any time after 10AM Monday at the funeral home; the family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Monday evening.
