Johnny Ray Elliott, a loving father, husband, and dedicated community member, passed away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on April 15, 1947, in Dalton, Georgia. Johnny was the son of Thurman B. Elliott, Sr., and Laura Helen Roe Elliott. He grew up as one of 10 children in a large, close-knit family, fostering deep bonds that would last throughout his life.

Johnny married Sharon P. Hefner Elliott, and together they raised three daughters: Sharon Elliott Malone, Jennifer R. Elliott, and Jeannine Brasel. He took great pride in his role as a loving husband and father.

Johnny served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, including one and a half tours in Vietnam. His service was a defining part of his life, and he carried the values of discipline, integrity, and service to others throughout his journey. After returning home, Johnny found a long and successful career with Lockheed Martin, where he worked as a Master Electrician.

For nearly 25 years, Johnny called Calhoun home. He was deeply involved in his community and dedicated much of his time to supporting others. A proud lifetime member of the American Legion, Johnny served as Past Commander and was also a long-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Over the years, he held various officer positions within these organizations, always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of his fellow veterans and community members.

Johnny’s faith was also an important part of his life and his strong sense of spirituality guided him in his relationships and his work in the community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Laura, and 8 siblings.
