John "Shag" Worley

John “Shag” Worley, age 65 of Sugar Valley, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at his residence. Shag was born on April 10, 1949 in Whitfield County, son of Martha Lee Worley and the late Bascomb Worley. Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Nancy Worley of Sugar Valley; two daughters; Laura Lynn Jordon and her husband Chris of Calhoun and Caron Brown and her husband David of Sugar Valley; one sister, Gayle Spearman of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Alise Anderson, Reese Brown, Jake Jordon and Nash Jordon all of Calhoun. A brother in law; Doug Caron of Oxford, Alabama and a sister in law, Cheryl Parker and her husband Johnny of Calhoun as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am Thursday, July 3rd from the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bob Hoffman officiating. Laura Dutton and John Grooms will have charge of music. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Chris Jordon, David Brown, Larry Dixon, Jerry Davis, Michael Mullins, John Parker, Gary Pettit, Robert Jones, and John Watkins. Honorary Pallbearers include; Junior Holsomback, Neal Holsomback, Kevin Holsomback, James Langley and friends from the Sugar Valley Store Front Porch. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm.
