John O'Neal

Friday, June 25, 2010 John O'Neal Jr., age 55, of Calhoun died Thursday evening June 24th in Erlanger Hospital following a sudden attack suffered at his residence. John was born in Gordon County March 9, 1955. Son of the late John O'Neal Sr. and Hazel Wright O'Neal. He was formerly employed by Metal Container Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. John was also preceded in death by his son, Stanley O'Neal. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Gail Cochran O'Neal. His children; Haley O'Neal and his wife Cheyenne, Lanea O'Neal and her fiancée Rick McKeone, Ron Chance and his wife Amanda, and Jim Chance and his wife Melissa. His sister, Sandra O'Neal. Four grandchildren; Reagan O'Neal, Avery O'Neal, Jocelyn Chance and Peyton Lorren all of Calhoun. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday June 27th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery. With music to be arranged by Ronnie Hammontree. Pallbearers serving include Bud West, Craig Shadburn, Brian Goble, Danny Stephens, Tracy Cochran, and Ashley Silvers. Honorary escorts will include Charles Godfrey, John Silvers, Jason Bird, Jamie Hall, Jay Jones, and Jeremy Noe. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:30p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baby Jenna Proctor fund at 5183 Fairmount Hwy.
