John Forrest Holsomback

Forrest Holsomback, age 89, of the Sugar Valley community. Died Sunday evening June 12th in Gordon Hospital. Forrest was born August 17, 1921 in Gordon County. Son of the late Samuel Alvin Holsomback and Mary Polly Hefner. He was employed by Santek Industries prior to his retirement and was a member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church as well as the Hill City Masonic Lodge #319. Forrest was preceded in death by his wife Berma Williams Holsomback in 2009. Survivors include his sons, J.F. Holsomback Jr., and his wife Linda of Fairmount and Neal Holsomback and his wife Barbara of Sugar Valley. One daughter, Polly Brown and her husband Jeff of Calhoun. Six grandchildren, Seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday June 15th at 3pm from the Historic Old Sugar Valley Baptist Church. With Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Bert Jeffords will have charge of the music. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers serving include, Jay, Jonathan, Travis, Kevin, Jerry, and Bobby Holsomback. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8pm. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Historic Old Sugar Valley Baptist Church % Zeda Brown, 249 Harbor Road NW., Sugar Valley, Georgia 30746.
