John Kelly Hobgood

John Kelly Hobgood, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Kelly was born on October 22, 1929 in Whitfield County to the late John Falcon Hobgood and Irene Carlock Hobgood. In addition to his parents, Kelly is also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Hobgood Page. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Kelly retired from Southern Bell in 1981 after 33 years of service. He really enjoyed working on farm equipment and working in his shop. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Winnie Goble Hobgood; two sons, Barry Kelly Hobgood, John Goble Hobgood and his wife Susan; seven grandchildren, Ross Edward Page and his wife Connie, Trev Baxter Page, Shawn Dereck Hobgood, Josh Lee Hobgood, Sarah Hobgood Smith and her husband Ryan, Heather Michelle Hobgood and Brittany Noel Hobgood; he is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen officiating. Katie Carson will have charge of music. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery. American Legion Post 112 will have charge of Military rites. Pallbearers serving are: Josh Hobgood, Ryan Smith, Josh Roberson, Johnny Goble, Ross Page, and Cole Page.
