Mr. John Sevier Henderson Jr. age 90 of Calhoun died Tuesday December 22nd in the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.
John was born in Gordon County on May 27th. 1919 son of the late John Sevier Henderson Sr. and Georgia Chapman Henderson. He was a lifelong resident and was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church. John was a well-known farmer and was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army Battery H. 205th. Coastal Artillery. . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Louise Chastain Henderson on July 24, 2006, a sister; Kate Clark and a brother; James Henderson.
He is survived by four sons Bruce Henderson and his wife Charlene, and Nathan Henderson all of Calhoun, Mickey Henderson and his wife Yvonne of Rome, and Chip and Cheryl Henderson of Calhoun. Two brothers; Jerome Henderson and his wife Marion and Ralph Henderson all of Calhoun, nine grandchildren, India, Kelly, Jason, Jay, Misty, Chris, Joshua, Cassie and Carlie, and thirteen great-grandchildren; Madison, Mallory, Allie, Gabe, Cavin, Ty, Drew, Kaylee, Evan, Jaxon, Kash, Josh and Jacob.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday December 24th. f rom the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Michael Roach, Charlie Culberson,Jr, Josh Henderson, Bruce, Nathan, Mickey and Chip Henderson.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.
