John Marion “Billy” Tate, Jr., age 82 of Taylorsville, GA passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Wellstar Community Hospice. Billy was born on October 9, 1929 in Gordon County. Son of the late John Marion Tate, Sr. and Elma Raines Tate. Billy was a graduate of the Sonoraville High School class of 1946, a thirty-five year retiree of the Ford Motor Company in Chicago, IL, and was a Korean Veteran. He was an active member of the Legacy Baptist Church in Dallas, GA. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by; His wife, Faye Bodkin Tate. One brother, Charles E. Tate. And nephew, Billy Boswell.
Survivors include; Two sons; William Anthony Tate and his wife Harriet of Woodstock, and Gerald Tate and his wife Angie of Cartersville. Two sisters; Ann Tate Duena of Cedartown, and Susan Tate Winn of Huntsville, AL. One brother, William E. Tate of Ashcamp, KY. Several nieces and nephews. One special friend, Ruth Fowler and her family also survives.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, March 18th at 5:00p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Shearin and Paul Schuh officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 17th from 4:00 – 6:00p.m. at the funeral home.
