View VideoTributeMonday, June 15, 2009 Mr. John Henry Bell age 76 of 225 Woodland Drive, Calhoun, died Monday June 15th. following an extended illness. John was born in Gordon County on March 15th. 1933 son of the late Wayne Blake Bell and Jessie Ruth Crawley Bell. He was a lifelong resident, was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Calhoun Elks Club BPOE 1883 where the was Past Exhalted Ruler, A member of American Legion, the V.F.W. and was an avid Golfer and was retired from retail sales.. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Bell Godfrey. Survivors include his wife Deborah M. Bell of Calhoun, two daughters; Susan Hyde and her husband James and Sabrina Poole and her husband Blake all of Calhoun, one brother; Gerald Bell and his wife Sue of Fairmount, a sister; Lottie Bell McCarty of Calhoun, four grandchildren; Ken Jones and his wife Kristy , Gabe Jones, Jordan Poole and Casey Poole all of Calhoun, one great grandchild; John Jones. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 17th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Davis and Rev. Jether Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Ken Jones, Gabe Jones, Jordan Poole, Larry and Kevin Thacker and Johathan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Calhoun Elks Club and the Elketts and Belwood High School School Friends. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening. The family request that in addition to flowers contributions may be made to the Elks Aidmore Foundation at 2394 Morrison Road, Conyers, Georgia 30094 or to the American Cancer Society.
