Joella Josephine Padgett

Monday, October 01, 2007 Miss. Josephine Padgett, age 89, of 5409 Nickelsville, Rd., Resaca, died October 1st in the Wildwood Health Care Center. Miss. Padgett was born in Gordon County on June 30, 1918 daughter of the late James Henry and Eva Hopper Padgett. She was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, was a member and former Pianist of the Oakman Methodist Church for many years. She was retired from teaching, having taught in the Gordon County and Calhoun City School Systems. She was an alumna of Rhinehardt College, North Georgia College and the University of Georgia , was a Member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers sorority and was a member of the DAR. In addition to the parents she was preceded in death by a sister Janelle Knight. Survivors include a sister; Mary Kraft of Atlanta, a brother; Plato Padgett of Oakman, two nieces; Elizabeth Kraft of Athens and Susan Kraft of Atlanta,and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday October 3rd. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Padgett Nelson and Dr. Charles Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include John Johnson, Steve Coffman, Jim Nelson, Wayne Howell, Ronnie Nelson and George Cook and are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday.
