Joel "Billy" William Pope,

Monday, January 24, 2011 Mr. Joel "Billy" William Pope, Jr. of Crawfordville, Georgia died January 23. He was born in Atlanta and was the son of the late Joel William Pope Sr., and Cynthia Elizabeth Fanning Pope He also was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ellen Burns Pope. He had lived in Chamblee for many years and had retired from the General Motors Assembly plant near Doraville as a parts Clerk. He has lived in Adairsville before moving to Crawfordsville in 2002. He was a member of the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church of Tucker. He is survived by his daughter, Ketra Pope of Crawfordville, brother James Pope and a sister Nelle Marie Anderson both of Eatonton; grandchildren Savanna Christine Sparks, Sandi Ellen Skye Sparks; and companion Gladys Thaxton all of Crawfordville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 25 at the Beggs Funeral Home of Thomson with the Reverend Tim Ferrell officiating. Grave side services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Tuesday at Fain Cemetery of Calhoun with the Reverend Eddie Brannon officiating. Online condolences may be recorded at www.beggsfuneralhome.net.
